Relay for Research
Take the Baton
Power the Science
Join the UK-wide Relay for Research
100 miles of activity per site
to fund early-stage translational cancer research
What is the relay
Each site takes on 100 miles of activity — walk, run, cycle, row, or mix it up.
Ideally, 100 people do 1 mile each.
This isn’t just about fitness. It’s about raising awareness of the translational research funding gap — the critical bridge between discovery and treatment.
why it matters
Small awards of £5,000–£10,000 can help scientists generate the data they need to move discoveries closer to patients.
Across the UK, early-career researchers are ready to apply the moment funds open.
Every mile helps make that happen.

The Relay started at The Francis Crick Institute, then passed to Discovery Park (Kent), then to Surrey Research Park
— together raising nearly £5,000 so far.
Now, we’re looking for the next site to take the baton.
